How is it that some of the same women who want to protect my right to have an abortion want to take away my right to own a gun?

Really?

I thought I could make choices?

Or can I only make the choices you want me to make?

Guns don’t kill people. Guns are inanimate objects.

That are used solely to kill people, stupid.

Abortions DO kill people or else 50 million people since 1973 would be alive today, but they’re not.

By that logic, how many people since the invention of the condom would be alive today if they weren’t brutally slaughtered by a rubber?

Guns are innocent, abortion is not.

Guns are weapons designed to kill people at the benefit of the gun manufactures and to the detriment of everyone who has to live around an asshole with a gun. That’s not innocent. That’s bordering on terrorism. Abortion is a medical procedure that causes no threat to you. You don’t know what you’re talking about, but what you’re supporting is, in fact, fascism.

If anything should be banned it’s abortion, not guns.

Nobody’s talking about a ban on anything, don’t you fucking reframe my argument. You wanna fight a straw man? Go ahead, just don’t drag me into it.

Oh and I’m not going to debate with you about abortion.

I choose to debate about abortion anyway. Here’s why we have laws, at all: To protect people and society. Not only are fetuses not people, but if they were people, it wouldn’t matter, because their survival has no impact on any of the other people in society. Look, it’s like this:

Say the woman who lives three doors down from you is murdered on Monday. The woman two doors down from you is murdered on Tuesday and on Wednesday the woman next door to you is murdered. How are you going to feel on Thursday morning? Like you need some intervention to prevent your murder? Yeah, probably, you should be freaking out. You want the cops there to save you. Now say instead of being murdered they all got abortions in that order and you’re pregnant. How do you feel Thursday morning? Just fine, right? Why would their abortions impact you? What threat does it put upon you? How does it impact society? Who’s autonomy does that take away? Nobody’s, that’s who.

This post wasn’t comparing guns and abortion.

Of course it was, don’t be silly.

I was pointing out the fact that pro-choice anti-gun women are stupid for saying I should be able to do what I want with my body but I shouldn’t be able to own a gun to protect myself. What the heck?!

You really think people are saying you “shouldn’t be able to own a gun?” Are you sure they’re not actually saying “there ought to be stricter regulations about what kind of artillery can be sold for personal use and who can qualify to make that purchase based on the likelihood they’ll use it irresponsibly?” That’s why we don’t call it “gun ban,” we call it “gun control.

’1 percent’ moms hire disabled guides to cut lines at Disney | The Raw Story →

Wealthy mothers are foregoing FastPasses and hiring disabled tour guides so their families can skip long lines at Disney World.

The New York Post reported on Tuesday that rich Manhattan mothers were paying “black-market Disney guides” as much as $130 an hour or $1,040 for an eight-hour day.

“My daughter waited one minute to get on ‘It’s a Small World’ — the other kids had to wait 2 1/2 hours,” on mother bragged, according to the Post. “You can’t go to Disney without a tour concierge… This is how the 1 percent does Disney.”

Yes, but how do they sleep?

No one knows whether Hispanics will ever reach I.Q. parity with whites, but the prediction that new Hispanic immigrants will have low-I.Q. children and grandchildren is difficult to argue against. From the perspective of Americans alive today, the low average I.Q. of Hispanics is effectively permanent.

Jason Richwine, who joined the Heritage Foundation in 2012 as a senior policy analyst after receiving his doctorate in public policy from Harvard University in 2009, focused his dissertation, “I.Q. and Immigration Policy,” on his view that the lower intelligence of immigrants should be considered when drafting immigration policy. (via le-kif-kif)

The scientific racism that oozes from his dissertation is so bad, even the consistently racist Heritage Foundation publicly disassociated itself from the work but apparently advocating for eugenics isn’t quite bad enough to cut a vicious bigot loose from the organization.

Yeah, anyone surprised? The new KKK Heritage Foundation supports a racist. Big whoop, they’re all racists.

LEGO Responds To Concerns About Street Harassment Stickers
Last week I posted here about a set of LEGO branded stickers I found in a store near me. The stickers featured a set of construction workers, one of whom was waving at an imaginary passer-by, shouting “Hey Babe!” That post caused quite a stir as evidenced here, here and the new reviews here.
Now LEGO has officially responded. More on that below.
I grew up playing with LEGOs and have a huge affinity towards the diminutive building blocks. In fact, I just began introducing my son to LEGOs, which was why these stickers caught my attention. That’s why I was so disappointed to see the brand affiliated with a product that normalized street harassment and cat-calling.
However, while I was disappointed with LEGO, I was more disappointed by some of the responses my post sparked. A number of men took to my Facebook page to defend the sticker asking if “Hey Babe” really amounted to harassment and warning the “well-intentioned anti-harassment camp” that their outrage could alienate “non-extreme feminists.” Another said, “IMHO, dealing with uncomfortable advances is part of being a human being. I’ve been hit on my both men and women I had no interest in, and yes, it was uncomfortable, but you just take it as a compliment and move on.” Even when a number of women tried to tell their own story about harassment and cat-calling the men in the thread seemed to minimize their experiences.
Then this weekend I got an email from Charlotte Simonsen, Senior Director at LEGO’s corporate communications office in Denmark (full email below). The stickers were a licensed product produced by Creative Imagination and was discontinued in the summer of 2010. Creative Imagination went out of business in December of 2012.
Simonsen said they were sorry I was disappointed with the product and assured me that my feedback had been forwarded on to the LEGO licensing team for their “future evaluation of how we can deliver the best possible LEGO experience.”
The email was fairly standard, and didn’t reference the content of my concerns or the specifics of this product except to say “To communicate the LEGO experience to children we typically use humor and we are sorry that you were unhappy with the way a minifigure was portrayed here.”
This explanation of the cat-calling construction worker is problematic for a range of reasons. First and foremost, who would think that these stickers were a positive communications of the “LEGO experience?” Secondly, where is the humor in this? Especially if the goal is communicating with kids. I have followed up with LEGO for clarification and asked a few more details about how their licensing agreements are structured and whether they had a chance to review products like this.
I never intended to cause such a stir, if we don’t call out these things when we see them, then even the little pieces of culture, like a pack of stickers, can serve to normalize sexist behavior and harassment. Saw a liberal blog calling Mark Sanford a “pig” for his affair.

proudgayconservative:

Hold up, you are part of a party that still idolizes a serial adulterer and suspected rapist.

Plank in your eye, speck in ours.

Do you know how stupid it makes you sound to say that I can’t criticize Mark Sanford’s misogyny because some people ignore Bill Clinton’s misogyny from nearly 20 years ago? You don’t get to act like that’s some argumentative checkmate, it’s a guilt by association argumentative fallacy and it’s a deflection. Try facing the issue instead of dodging it. You’re the hypocrite. If Clinton had taken taxpayer money to travel overseas for an affair, you’d still be calling it treason.

Excuse me, but my  children will NOT NOT NOT be learning about RAPE or CONSENT in FUCKING ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. NOT BY A LONG FUCKING SHOT YOU BITCH. YOU CUNT. NEVER INSINUATE THAT CHILDREN NEED TO LEARN ABOUT THAT SHIT THAT FUCKING YOUNG.

The funny part is that your children WILL be learning about sex and rape in elementary school. See, what you don’t understand about the progressive movement is that it always wins. Society always progresses, pausing only temporarily in times of great fear to wallow in Conservative drudgery (think The Dark Ages, The Era of European Fascism or The Bush Administration) before launching forward with a new renaissance. Children do need to learn about sex and consent in elementary school and they already do in most parts of the country (you can tell where because they’re inversely proportional to elevated teen pregnancy rates.) And you kick and scream and use inflammatory language, but progressives rarely stress about people like you, because we’ve seen how this movie ends and you always lose.

He has got to destroy us because we are becoming an affront to him, in every step of the way. We are denying his existence, we’re denying his power. We are slapping him in the face.

Republican Congressman Introduces Bill To Require Political Approval Of Scientific Papers →

Congressman Lamar Smith of Texas really does not understand science. Not scientific method, not scientific theories or laws, none of it. Which is why he submitted a bill draft titled the “High Quality Research Act” which would in effect add a politician into scientific studies.

The bill says that any research done using federal funds (which is the majority of research done in the United States) must have its results and finding approved by the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation of the Senate and the Committee on Science, Space, and Technology of the House of Representatives. If the findings are not agreed to, the research is taken from the researchers and disposed of by Congress as it sees fit.

Small government? You’re doing it wrong, Lamar!
