Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has turned her attention to an issue fusing together food, religion, travel and her home state.
Palin spoke out on Thursday against Alaska Airlines’ decision to stop including prayer cards with its meal trays. The airline announced the move a day earlier, ending the tradition that lasted for 30 years.
“Some customers were comforted by the cards and some didn’t feel religion was appropriate on the plane and preferred not to receive one,” Alaska Airlines spokeswoman Bobbie Egan told the Associated Press.
Palin was one of those comforted customers, voicing her frustration to millions of Facebook followers. In a note entitled “Alaska Airlines’ Prayer Cards; It’s hip to be offended?”, the former Alaska governor expressed her distaste toward the move.
“It feels so odd that some may be offended by a little card with an encouraging non-denominational verse from the Psalms, but how often do we hear complaints about tawdry ads or billboard images flashing at us everywhere we turn?,” Palin wrote. “People of faith and common decency just shrug and move on from the constant assault on their sensibilities; we don’t call for censorship — at least I don’t.”

Duh, Alaska Airlines, didn’t you know if some people like being preached at EVERYONE should have to put up with it, even if it’s not in the company’s best interest? Fuck!

Sarah Palin dismisses allegations that she rolled her eyes during a heated discussion caught on camera. The former governor, who abandoned her state following an embarrassing run for the Vice Presidency, appeared to roll her eyes when she asked an anti-Palin demonstrator what her profession to which the reply was “I’m a teacher”

Ethics probe: Palin legal defense fund was illegal →

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — An investigator for the Alaska Personnel Board says a legal defense fund set up for Sarah Palin when she was governor was illegal.

Investigator Timothy Petumenos said Thursday the Alaska Fund Trust inappropriately used the word “official” on its website, wrongly implying Palin’s endorsement as governor.

Palin’s attorney says she will return the funds.

Petumenos, however, found the 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee acted in good faith and relied on the advice of lawyers when setting up the fund.

A preliminary, confidential report also implicating Palin was issued last July, less than two weeks after she announced she was resigning. In announcing her resignation, Palin cited the toll of the ethics probes as one of the reasons she was stepping down.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — An investigator for the Alaska Personnel Board plans Thursday to release the findings in an ethics complaint filed against Sarah Palin when she was governor that claimed a legal defense fund set up for her was illegal.

Another board investigator last summer found evidence that Palin — the 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee — may have violated ethics laws by trading on her position as she sought money to pay legal expenses in multiple ethics complaints filed against her. Nearly every complaint has been dismissed.

The confidential report on the Alaska Fund Trust was issued less than two weeks after Palin announced she was resigning from office last July.

In announcing her resignation, Palin cited the toll of the ethics probes as one of the reasons she was stepping down.

“She fell in love with the national spotlight and lost her ethical compass,” he said thoughtfully. “That was a sad day for Alaska and America.”

“Palin became the spokesperson for the divisive voices in American politics. She dismissed the greatness of our immigrant heritage, indeed of today’s Alaska, where in Anchorage alone nearly 100 languages are spoken in the homes of the children in our public schools.”

The late Alaska Gov. Wally Hickel, on Sarah Palin Palin attended Hickel’s funeral this week.
