I don’t understand our society.
Thank you for presenting your credentials up front, I’ll be sure to take this into account how uninformed you are as I read your nonsense.
So many people accuse the entire Catholic Church of being actively promoting child molestation.
being actively promoting, eh? Sounds like you’ve nearly grasped the language.
That is just pure ignorance.
One of my favorite signs of weak writing is the need to qualify everything.
Yes, it has happened.
Yes, the Catholic Church …being actively promoting… child molestation…happened?
A very small number of the total amount of Catholic clergy has marred the beauty that it is.
Oh, wow, I didn’t know the numbers were in on the amount of beauty that it is which the Catholic clergy has marred. While I trust your analysis, I was wondering if you wouldn’t mind revealing that very small number. Is it two? Is it seven?
The people who participated in those horrid acts are wrong. They should not have done that. It’s disgusting and immoral.
It’s tough to take a stance on issues like this, I know, but let me be the first to say I admire someone with the courage to publicly come out against child molestation.
Did the Church react the way it should have? Probably, not. They could have done better.
This is where it’s supposed to end, but for some reason my peripheral vision is picking up more words below.
What upsets me is that these people, because of the disgusting acts of a few, see an ugly picture of the Church as a whole.
Just who are you calling “these people!” Wait, seriously, what are you even talking about? Also: “See an ugly picture?” I don’t think that’s a thing.
Yet, they don’t do the same with the education system in America.
Isn’t it just delightfully easy to make up an argument just to shoot it down? You must be the champion debater in your club of you and all straw men, right?
Teachers have molested their students, but you don’t color the whole system has “promoting child molestation”.
Why then must you do it to the Catholic Church?
Punctuation goes inside quotes and the beef most reasonable Americans (and Irish, and British and Canadians) have with the Catholic Church is not so much the fact that an absurd number of priests have been found to have molested children. The true outrage is reserved for the church’s policy of hiding their accused priests from the law by transferring them, paying large sums to quiet accusers and not taking action to remove or even properly investigate the suspected criminal. These people are criminals, kid, not just good folks who made a mistake and need forgiveness, these are criminals. They need to go to jail and when a teacher is caught molesting a student that’s exactly what happens. Their superiors turn the case over to the police and the police investigate and the criminal is brought before a judge and tried.
Now, let me help you learn about “the very small number” of priests currently serving prison sentences for molesting children and the Vatican’s dubious role in covering up accusations and helping criminals dodge the law.
I’ve got so much in my mind right now, this probably doesn’t make much sense. I’d just like for people to stop painting with such a broad brush.
Well how noble of you. I just want for the legal system we’ve established in this country to supersede secretive religious institutions, but if wishes and buts were clusters of nuts we’d all have a bowl of granola.
